Service fees, including those paid by the state and local agencies,
fund approximately 90 percent of The Ridge’s operating budget. To
cover the ever-present budget gap, we rely on the tax deductible
contributions from families of residents, individuals, service
groups, businesses, churches and private and government grants.
State licensing requirements define minimal levels of services we
must provide. The Ridge has never been satisfied with providing the
minimal levels of service. Currently we provide 33% more direct care
staff and 25% to 43% more registered nursing hours than required by
state licensing. We make sure every resident receives all of the
medical attention they require. Our recreation budget is larger than
the budgets of most city governments. (Not really. Just checking to
see if you were paying attention, but we do devote a lot of time,
energy and expense to outings and the fun stuff of life.). We employ
our own maintenance department to ensure that our
facilities and vehicles are always in good repair.
In short, we are dedicated to providing the very best services we
can and improving the quality of life to the highest degree possible
for the people we serve.
Fee reimbursement has never kept pace with the cost of providing the
level of quality care the Peppermint Ridge offers. In fact, the gap
is sure to widen. The California state budget is usually in crisis.
To date, residential service providers like us have not experienced
the funding cuts that many Medi-Cal providers have. We believe that
our services will eventually be a victim of the budget crisis.
Community support will become even more critical to the success of
our programs and services.
If you have read this far on this page, you are interested in what
we are accomplishing and probably would like an opportunity to help
us. There are many ways for that to happen:
-
We welcome your financial donations in all
amounts. Donations from $10 to $100,000 are all very important
to our ability to maintain The Ridge's high quality of service.
- Consider our “Peppermint Partner” program where you can pledge
to make a monthly contribution. You can send us your check every
month or give us your credit card information and we can make
your monthly giving effortless. We can automatically charge your
credit card for any amount you authorize on a monthly basis.
-
As we advertise special events we are conducting,
I hope you will consider being a part of the activities and join
us.
-
Some supporters have donated their cars and trucks to us. They
have found that donating through those organizations you hear
about on the radio and in the newspaper results in only a small
percentage of the vehicle’s value reaching the charitable
organization. We can usually get a good price for used vehicles
and there is no overhead fee going to a third party.

special people. |
